What is My Friend.

Registered in June 2018, My Friend is a Non Profit Social Organisation.
Partnering with like-minded organisations, we work with children for their holistic development with an eye toward creating a lasting positive change.
Creating opportunities for needy children realise their dream, regardless of their caste, creed or religion, to grow into abled, responsible citizens and prospective leaders.

My Friend

How does it work?

The Sponsor makes a monthly commitment with My Friend, in turn to the child and the partnered centre who partners with us in the child’s area.
The centre takes up the responsibility of child participation, protection and monitors the sponsored child. The centre’s coordinator or staff will teach, nurture and facilitate the child, everyday. The Sponsor will receive periodic updates on the progress of their child.

What is different about My Friend

Unlike most Social Organisations, My Friend creates a connected experience. We align a sponsor to a child, creating an opportunity for a personal connection.
This brings in a sense of accountability in the Sponsor and the Child. The sponsor can give a personal gift, write letters to the child to encourage and build a healthy relationship, perhaps, meet the child.

Our Success Stories.

We would love to encourage you with the stories at My Friend

Manvi

Manvi comes from Ullal Upanagar. Her house is not a even close to being safe for a growing child, with every piece of Agarbatti you light, a life like Manvi’s is at stake; the stick has a very strong smell and can get an adult dizzy! Her mother Roopini, trapped by traditions to be confined within the house, to do household chores and to look after children has taken up Agarbatti making for her daily wages. Unlike the rest in the village, she wants to educate her daughter. Earning somewhere between Rs.25 to Rs.30 for every 1000 sticks, it was a challenge to sustain her child through school. With My Friend to her rescue, Manvi now attends school. She loves rhymes and enjoys learning new things.

Sarala

Sarala says, she is happy to be part of the cooking team at one of the partner centres. She cooks and feeds the children at the centre, assisting the staff. Life had offered Sarala a tough path, her husband being a drunkard, its on her! the responsibility of taking care of her children. With no consistent income at hand all she could see was despair. But one fine day she was offered a job at the partner centre, so that she could meet the needs of the family. Times passed as My Friend came along to give an opportunity to Mahalakshmi and Sadana to attend school.

Janani, Tejas, Dhanushree, Murugesh

Janani, Tejas, Dhanushree, Murugesh and Sathya are selected for the Right to Education program, which will let them study at a better school. With no basic foundations, the learning process to clear the qualifying exam was a challenge to them. Thanks to the regular tuitions at the centre and hard work, they cleared the exam and became the firsts in the centre to qualify. The staff continue to inspire other children to reach greater heights by their tireless coaching and individual attention.
